In basic terms, a Grid Interactive or Grid Connected System is a solar system which feeds the electricity produced by your solar modules into the existing mains power grid. A special meter (much like your existing electricity meter) monitors exactly how much electricity you have fed into the grid.

Provided your solar system is optimal for your home, and you are energy efficient, your electricity bill could be zero! However, should you use more electricity than you have produced, you only pay the difference. In any case, you will save both money and greenhouse emissions.

Essentially, a Grid Interactive System is made of the same components as a Stand Alone System, except where a Stand Alone System incorporates batteries for storage, a Grid Interactive System uses the mains grid as its 'storage'.
